Kia ora, I'm Rachel Fifield... Welcome to the Reefton Design Studio, located in Reefton, "the town of light" on the West Coast of the South Island in Aotearoa. I love creating new designs. I work with photography, paint acrylic on canvas and board, do sculpture and use a hot head lamp and glass, to make unique beads and create one off pieces of jewellery. I entered the World of Wearable Arts in the 90's and since then have always had my creative hat on in some way.
Suzanne Bevin has been re-constructing amazing fashion garments for more than 40 years. Suzanne has run two recycled clothing shops, held polytechnic workshops and sewing classes. "I love up-cycling, using recycled items to bring new life to garments." When Sue relocated to Reefton, she started to collaborate with Rachel immediately and the Design Studio was born.
An artistic hub has developed at the studio. Rachel invited several artists to exhibit in the space. "There are some very talented people, emerging artists, who cant afford the cost to solo exhibit, they can do that through the studio." The studio is located on the main street at 61A Broadway.
